A Canadian linguist and writer.

The Linguist: My Ph.D. is in Semantics, and my secondary area of research is sociolinguistics.

The Writer: I am the Second Place winner of the Writers of the Future Contest, First Quarter, 2006. My novelette, "Metamorphoses in Amber" (Abyss & Apex #24, October 2007) was a finalist in the "Best Short Form Work in English" category for the 2008 Prix Aurora Awards. I write fantasy, science fiction, and mystery. I was a nominee for the 2009 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer.

The Administrator: I work in graduate administration at the Cinema Studies Institute at the University of Toronto.
